“The celebration of the pagan festival of Halloween is now a multi-billion dollar merchandiser’s market. Fifty percent of Americans will decorate for Halloween (compared to over 80% for Christmas). It is now the third most popular party activity, after the Superbowl and New Year’s Eve.
This is always a difficult time for Christians, especially those with children. It is also a dangerous time for some, since many of the seemingly “harmless” involvements associated with Halloween can also be “entries” for the occult, and can prove very tragic for the unwary.
There is only one true God (Isa 44:6, 8: 46:9). Thus, only one true religion. Scripture declares “all gods of the nations are idols” (Ps 96:5).
All false religion and idolatry is by definition involved in demon worship – whether or not the participants recognize it (Acts 26:18). Hence Paul’s concern. The spiritual power and reality behind idols involves demons (I Cor 10:20, Ps 106:37).

Gen. 1:14 says that the lights in the firmament of heaven must serve as “signs” (ototh) for “appointed times” (moedim). These signs are also called the Zodiac (which is “mazzaroth” in Hebrew). It is an imaginary belt about 20 degrees wide in the sky along which the sun, moon and planets seem to move.
The starry sky rotates from east to west around a fixed pole every day. Just as the sun sets in the same place every day, so the stars return to the same place in the sky every year. It is intended as YaHUaH’s Evangelical Plan in heaven for everyone to “read” long before there were books, but as we also know, astrology made their own distorted interpretation of it.

Die sterrehemel draai elke dag van oos na wes om ’n vaste pool. Nes die son elke dag op dieselfde plek sit, so keer die sterre elke jaar terug na dieselfde plek aan die hemelruim. Dit is bedoel as JaHUaH se Evangeliese Plan in die hemelruim vir elkeen om te “lees” nog lank voordat daar boeke was, maar soos ons ook weet het astrologie hulle eie verwronge vertolking daarvan gemaak.

Laodicea was a major export market for black wool, a product much in demand. It was also the site of a well-known medical school. Laodicea’s origins, as far as are presently known, go back to one of the Hellenistic kings in the middle of the third century B.C. The city was at the crossroads of north-south traffic between Sardis and Pergamus and east-west traffic from the Euphrates to Ephesus. Laodicea quickly became a-rich city.

Laodicea’s origins, as far as are presently known, go back to one of the Hellenistic kings in the middle of the third century B.C. It is supposed to have been named or renamed then by Antiochus ll in honour of his wife, Laodicea, but the origins must go back earlier. Cicero lived in Laodicea in the early months of 50 B.C. administering justice and trying to make up for the distress caused throughout the province by his predecessor, Appius Claudius.
The city was at the crossroads of north-south traffic between Sardis and Perga and east-west traffic from the Euphrates to Ephesus. Laodicea quickly became a rich city, rich enough to be able to rebuild itself without outside help after the destructive earthquake of 60 A.D.

Dit word veronderstel dat Antiochus II dit na sy vrou, Laodicea vernoem het, maar die oorsprong van die stad was alreeds vroeër as dit. Cicero het in die vroeë maande van 50 v.C. in Laodicea gewoon.
